Ingredients:
  • Dumpling Wrapper
  • 1 cup Warm Water
  • 1 tsp. Instant Yeast
  • 3 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • Beef Filling
  • 1 lb. Ground Beef
  • 1 tbsp. Light Soy Sauce
  • 0.5 tbsp. Oyster Sauce     
  • 0.5 tbsp. Shaoxing Wine
  • 0.5 tbsp. Dark Soy Sauce   
  • 1 tsp. Five-Spice Powder      
  • 1 tsp. Sugar
  • 0.25 tsp. Salt
  • 0.25 tsp. Black Pepper 
  • 1 tbsp. Fried Shallot
  • 0.5 oz. Green Onion, Finely Chopped
  • 1 oz. Onion, Finely Chopped
  • 0.5 oz. Carrot, Finely Chopped    
  • 1 tbsp. Butter      
  • 1 tbsp. Minced Ginger        
  • 1 tbsp. Finely Chopped Cilantro 
  • 1 tbsp. Finely Chopped Celery             
  • 1 tbsp. Water
  • 0.5 cup Water [Simmer]

In a large mixing bowl, add warm water and yeast, and mix until the yeast dissolved completely.

In the same bowl, add all-purpose flour, and stir to mix to form a dough. Knead until the dough is smooth.

Wrap the bowl with plastic wrapper and rest for 90 minutes.

In another mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and the rest of the filling ingredients and blend very well. Set aside.

Dust the working surface with flour, and knead the dough into a long rope about 1.5-inch diameter. Cut the rope into 1.5-inch pieces.

Using a wooden roller, roll each piece into a thin circle wrapper about 3.5-inch wide.

Put a wrapper in the left hand, place filling in the center of the wrapper, fix the starting point with the right hand thumb and begin to fold the edge counterclockwise, and move the thumb slowly in the process. Repeat this step to seal the baozi completely.

Place the baos in a steaming basket and rest 15 minutes.
