This recipe will show you how to make a superb meatloaf along with delicious garlic mashed potatoes on the side. This is a classic meal, but the flavors are exquisite.

Ingredients:
  • Meatloaf
  • 1 cup Bread Crumbs
  • 1 cup Ricotta Cheese
  • 2 large Egg
  • 1 lb. Ground Beef
  • 1 lb. Ground Pork
  • 2 tbsp. Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 4 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 2 tbsp. Chopped Shallot
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Basil
  • Meatloaf Topping
  • 1 cup Tomato Sauce
  • 2 tbsp. Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. Liquid Smoke
  • 1 tsp. Garlic, Minced
  • 1 tsp. Hot Sauce
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • 4 tbsp. Butter Garlic
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 5 cloves Garlic
  • 2 tbsp. Whole Black Peppercorn
  • 3 sprigs Thyme
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • Cook The Potatoes
  • 5 large Idaho Potatoes
  • 2 tbsp. Salt

【Meatloaf】Preheat Oven to 180°C / 350°F.

In a small blender, quickly chop breadcrumbs. Add eggs, ricotta, Worcestershire sauce and blend together.

Add to a large bowl with all the remaining meatloaf ingredients. Place in a 10”x5” pan.

Mix all the ingredients for the meatloaf topping in a medium bowl. Spread over top of the meatloaf.

Bake 45-50 min or until internal temperature reaches 70°C / 160°F.

【Mashed Potatoes】Peel potatoes and cut into similar-sized medium dice.

Place in a medium pot of cool water with 1 T of salt and bring to a simmer, uncovered.

Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, heat all remaining ingredients until lightly simmering. Turn off and remove from heat to steep, covered.

The potatoes are done when a knife will poke and remove without any resistance.

Using a masher, food mill or potato ricer, run the potatoes through and return to the medium cooking pot.

Strain the cream mixture.

Whisk into the potato mash. Adjust with salt and pepper.

Slice the meatloaf and serve with mashed potatoes.
